Palm Springs, California Highlights February 28th - April 1st

Flee market Palm Springs

This was our maiden trip from Las Vegas to Palm Springs CA.  The first evening when we arrived in Palm Springs,
Jeff and I were resting, around 9 pm, the  coach started shaking. Jeff thought I was doing laundry BUT we were experiencing our 1st 5.1 earthquake.

We were lucky enough to see the enormous Marilyn Monroe Statue which was here on a temporary basis. See pics below.   We also went to a huge flee market at the college here. Sunday, we had a great time at the Air Musuem.  Monday we road the Palm Springs Aerial Tram to the top of Mt. San Jacinto.   We spent a few hours at the top hiking and captured the below pics.   Today, we went to a Date Farm. Did you realize that Palm Springs produces 95 percent of all dates?  The date farm we went to is Shields and they have been in business since 1929. Dates are grown on a certain Palm Tree. It takes 7-25 years to produce a date. We sampled and bought a few different types of dates. Delicious ! They are famous for their Date Shakes but too rich for me.
