Idaho, Montana, Grand Teton, Yellowstone

Idaho - Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes is one of the most spectacular and popular bike trail in the western United States.

A truly unique trail.  It's a 72 mile paved bike trail. We biked for 30 miles on this trail. Some beautiful views from the trail.

         Another trail we enjoyed.
                   Hiawatha Trail
        Borders of Montana and Idaho

This was the most unusual trail I have ever been on. It had tunnels that we road thru. It was pitch black, freezing cold, water dropping on you from the ceiling. Such a challenge and so interesting. I loved it. The first tunnel we rode thru was 2 miles long.  Very long time in the pitch black with a bike light.

Here is how dark the tunnel is. This was the beginning. You can see just a little light.

Another tunnel...

We road across this bridge.
Another bridge we rode over

Glacer Park - Montana

Our friends that we met in San Diego were at Glacier Park while we were there. We got together for lunch. They have been full timers for 1 year. It was so awesome to see Denise and Tim.

Glacier Park Hiking Trail

Glacier Park bike ride
Most of the roads were closed because of the snow.  Unfortunately because of the road closures we didn't get to see the Glacier. Since the roads were closed the park allowed bikes to ride on the road without car traffic. The road on Avalanche was all up hill. We went 30 miles total. Very challenging ride but fun.
Stunning views along the trail

There was an Avalanche this year which destroyed one large area.

This was as far as we could go on the trail.

Grand Teton
Beautiful Views of the Teton Mountains

In the Grand Teton area when you see a congested area of cars off the side of the road, it is called a Bear Jam. We did get to see a Bear Jam and a large black bear. The bear was way too far to get a great picture.
There was this cute squirrel eating a chunk of dirty snow at the park. He kept flipping the snow.
As you can see, we are in to bike trails. We rode our bikes from Grand Teton to Jackson Hole. It is about a 30 mile ride. The reward was a wonderful Starbucks drink in the park. Jackson Hole is the only airport in the U.S. located in a national park (Grand Teton National Park).
Views from the trail.

Bison. Today there is a free-roaming herd of bison that were roaming just south of the park.

We were supposed to go to Yellowstone National Park with our daughter, Tamara and her friend Tamara but the weather was going to be cold and raining the entire time. At the last minute (since your home is on wheels) we decided to go Moab Utah. Less miles for Tamara and awesome weather.

Coffee Houses we enjoyed

Moab Bike Trail

This bike trail was very difficult. We had to walk our bikes a few times up the steap hills. Short trail but very challenging.

Arches National Park
Moab, Utah

We took a wrong turn and went down a nightmare road for 8 miles going 5 miles per hour. We were all pretty crazy after that.

Jeff jumped on the top of car looking for our destination. Never found it so we had to turn around. The road was for 4 wheel drive vehicles. Not our tow car.

Tamara and Tamara started to walk faster than we could drive.

We found a wonderful trail in Arches National Park that we enjoyed.

See the arch in the formation.

We also took a bike trail in the  Arches National Park area

We woke up at 3:30 am to experience the beautiful sunrise in Canyonlands National Park.

Waiting for the sunrise...

We took a hike after the sunrise. The weather was awesome. Here are some pictures of Canyonlands National Park
