Chihuly Museum

Special edition:

      Chihuly Museum and Garden

One of my favorite artist, Chihuly. His fabulous work is at the Belligio in Las Vegas. This museum has the most spectacular displays of beautiful glass art in the world. I hope you enjoy as much as I do.  If you haven't been to Chihuly's museum in Seattle, I highly recommend it for you to put this museum into your schedule the next time you are in Seattle.

We are leaving Seattle on June 9th. I will then send out my blog about all the wonderful experiences.

Enjoy the vibrant colors of this fabulous artist.

Believe it or not, the following spectular pictures are of actual Glass blown art.

The following drawings are other ways he explores his love of art.   These are just a few of many more displayed.

The following is history on Dale Chihuly.

Seattle Highlights

Seattle, Wasington
This has been a fabulous place to visit. We were here for 3 1/2 weeks. Could of stayed another month. One of my favorites was the Chihuly Museum.

This is the awesome RV Park we stayed in Issaquah Washington about 20 miles outside of Seattle. We meet a lot of nice couples there.
On June 2nd, we had a visitor in our RV Park. I didn't have the pleasure to see. The Manager and many people saw it walking in the park.

Pikes Place Market
Established 1907
9 Acres Historic District to more than 200 craftspeople (vendors).

Starbucks opened its 1st store in 1971 in Pikes Place Market in downtown Seattle.
Because the market is a historic district with design guidelines, the store retains its original look.

Just a few examples of the massive market.

Jeff and I bought new bikes to visit trails and sites. We haven't been on a bike for years and it is true you don't forget how to ride. One thing I did forget was a sore butt. I guess after taking a gorgeous 22 mile ride on a trail, it was too be expected. Here are a few pics.

I accomplished 22 miles. My reaction because I am Happy.....

This house on the trail was so unique. It was made out of a beautiful steel siding.

Ferry Trips

Trip on ferry to Lopez Island. One of the San Juan Islands. We rode our bikes around the island.  Gorgeous Island

When we were riding we saw a deer on the side of the road.
This was a different deer on another road.

We also went to Whidbey island. Jeff read a true story from Ann Rule about a murder case at this island.  The name of the book is, "Practice to Deceive"

Ferry to Bainbridge Island
There were several decorated frogs and sculptures made out of rocks all over the island. Very cute island with beautiful homes and cute stores. We did a lot of window shopping.

Yoga poses made out of rocks !!

Views from the Deception Pass bridge. We walked across the bridge.

Seattle International Film Festival
We bought a pass for 20 films. Most of the films were awesome.  This film festival is the largest we have ever attended. They offered 400 films over 3 and 1/2 weeks.  This didn't even count the shorts.

Space Needle
We didn't go up this trip. We had been on it with our children from a previous cruise to Alaska.

Cute Pedicure Chair. I need a pedi.

Boeing Factory Plant

They do not allow picture taking in the factory. This was taken by their photographer. This factory was so fascinating. To see 747 - 787's being built was spectacular. Here are some interesting information from the tour guides.

• They have 41,000 employees at this location.  30,000 of those employees work in 1 building.

• longest working employee - she has been there 72 years. She is 92 years old and still working there.

• There is a bank, dry cleaner, 11 cafeterias, 11 coffee store (Tullys) - no Starbucks on their property which is 1.025 acres. The property is so big they have 1,600 bikes for employees to get around on.

• The building is so big, before they installed ventilation, a cloud would develop inside the building which would cause it to rain in the building.

• When they starting building jets,  it was decide to have them starting with a 7 and end with a 7. So the middle number started with zero then the 707 was born. So far they have used all numbers including 8. After 9, they haven't decide what they will use but the tour guide said the talk was....how about 7007.

• Every 8 seconds in the world, there is a 737 taking off

• Boeing has made 10,000 - 737's
